Day 1: San Francisco to Santa Cruz

Expect plenty of clouds and possibly a little drizzle in the morning and up to lunch. Watch out for any wet spots on the road. The morning will also bring headwinds while heading west, and crosswinds heading south along the coast. After lunch, however, skies will likely clear, and a developing tailwind will sail us into Santa Cruz. Enjoy!

Day 2: Santa Cruz to King City

John Celenza's Commentary

The morning rideout will feature low clouds and possible drizzle with cool temperatures and light winds. Peaks of sunshine will arrive in the mid morning as we approach Salinas. Then, after turning inland heading toward lunch, the usual tailwind will gradually develop as skies become clear with warming temperatures. A sea breeze front, the leading edge to the tailwind, will move southeastward through Gonzales around 1 pm, until finally reaching King City early in the evening.

Another typical cloudy and cool morning, with light winds.Clouds will clear between 8 and 10 am, so plan your Quad Buster Climb accordingly! For lunch in Bradley, temperatures will be warming fom the low 70s to upper 80s by 1 pm. Finally, a cooling headwind will great us as we approach Paso Robles. Enjoy!

Day 4: Paso Robles to Santa Maria

Halfway to LA! A cool morning and a light headwind will greet you on the climb up the Evil Twins. The sun should be out for most of the ascent—and hopefully at the top, too! Expect beautiful views of the mountains and a sea of clouds along the coast below. PLEASE BUNDLE UP for the ride down to the coast—it will be sharply cooler at the bottom! Mostly cloudy skies, cool temperatures, and crosswinds will accompany us along the coast. However, the sun should peek out, and we may enjoy a temporary tailwind as we ride inland to Cuesta College for lunch and continue farther inland afterward. Finally, crosswinds will return for the final leg to Santa Maria.

Day 6: Lompoc to Ventura

As we leave Lompoc, expect cloudy and cool conditions. Winds should be light on the climb up Gaviota Pass, but watch for possible drizzle and moisture on the road. Once we’re heading down Route 1, winds will mostly be at our backs, and skies may begin to clear around lunch. However, weather models disagree on whether clouds will linger through the day. Mostly tailwind conditions are expected all the way to Ventura!

Happy Day 7! We'll start out cloudy and cool again, with light winds. Skies will start to clear around 10 a.m. as favorable tailwinds begin to develop. By lunch, temperatures should be in the 70s under sunny skies! As we return to the coast, use your excitement energy to power through headwinds as we cross the finish line on ALC 2025!
